like a good shit/wank this blog has been coming for a long time, but it's worth it. im struggling here with hard drive problems= , so this will be the last blog from me in a whi= le until i get my head sorted out. there are many things i would like to report but i think this is enough f= or now. as you may or may not know = - boom selection is changing. very soon (hopefully)= boom selection will be a fully fledged site for this sort of music, not just= a disorangised blog. we= 're trying to get some cool people involved and make it look as good as possible, have the best mp3s and articles etc + a big community board..= should be very very go= od. if you think you can help in anyway - email me or mky and tell us what you could do. and something important - if cassette boy is reading this can you *please* get in tou= ch, as i would like your assistance and i don't know your email :) thanks.

*mp3 quality<= /span> - most the mp3s on this = site are 64kbps/mono. you may be used to 128kbps/stereo. just a pointer for you all -= THEY ARE THE SAME QUALITY. the only difference is= that one is in mono and the other is in stereo. the other difference is that one is half the size of the other - a must for people with limited bandwidth/space/time. ok= ? so no more bitching - THEY ARE BROADCAST QUALITY. = glad i got that off my= chest :)

= a while ago, somebody called Ambient Sheep posted this message on the Cook'd and Bomb'd message board about a certain 12" - m= p3 of it here. i like it. nobody knows who really made it - apparently a fam= ous 80s star. just ignore those who say it was B= rian Connoley :)

A 12" single, i= n a plain black sleeve, the only marking on it being a hand-written sticker= the record-shop had stuck on their own outer plastic sleeve saying:

I took the sleeve up= to the counter and asked about it. They said they couldn't play it for me = as it was basically a lot of swearing all the way through, but that it was very funny and worth hearing. After looking at the actual record, and a= bit of umming and ahhing, I splashed out the £2.79 or whatever it was and bought it.

It's WONDERFUL. It s= tarts off as a deathly dull late-70s/early-80s slow dance disco number, compl= ete with an Isaac Hayes / Barry White sort of voiceover going "Hey Bab= y, I wanna tell you something deep and meaningful" and so on. This is so convincing that most people I pl= ay it to start to switch off, or make conversation, and I have to urge the= m to no, keep listening.

The voiceover conclu= des something like "So baby, I need to tell you what I really think of you..."

Suddenly - over the = same slushy backing, which doesn't change a bit - a load of raucous white gu= ys start chanting:
